Mission

Podcat’s mission and ambition is to entertain and inform our listeners with facts and stories about all of the world's amazing wild cat species, the places they live and the people who work with them. My hope is that listeners will come away with a sense of wonder and deep appreciation for wild cats and their impressive abilities to survive and thrive across diverse landscapes and circumstances. I also want to profile the amazing people who choose to dedicate their careers and lives to working with these fantastic, but very challenging, species. They do terrific work that needs to be acknowledged, celebrated and supported.

About Podcat

Your Host

Blair Hammond

Host, Writer, producer

For the past 30 years I've been working to protect, recover and restore wild species and spaces in Canada, mainly in British Columbia. I've experienced many setbacks and challenges in this work, but I've also been lucky enough to have played a part in some of the largest conservation success stories in Canadian history. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn.

In my experience, the successes usually only come when local communities have an emotional connection to, and passion for, the species or spaces they seek to protect. Being able to back up that passion with reliable knowledge can be a potent combination.

To love something enough to want to protect it one must first know it. Podcat: The Wild Cats Podcast is my attempt to help the world get to know the more than 40 species of wild cats on our little planet. I am obsessed with all of them and hope that this little project may help to motivate action for these species and help those working to conserve them.
